Story
The ghosts of a deceased couple are haunted by an insufferable family that has moved into their house and they hire an evil spirit to exorcise them. This is Michael Keaton’s favorite movie. Oth’s shoes as he spray paints the walls of the house change from red elf shoes to white slippers when he walks through the bathroom, then back to red elf shoes when he enters the next room. Adam: What are your qualifications? Beetlejuice: Oh. Well… I graduated from Harvard Business School. I travel a lot.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
I lived through the Black Death and had a pretty good time during it. I’VE WATCHED THE EXORCIST ABOUT ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY SEVEN TIMES AND EVERY TIME I WATCH IT IT GETS FUNNY… NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT YOU’RE TALKING TO THE DEAD… Do you think I’m qualified? The Geffen logo is accompanied by a creepy version of the Banana Boat song (sung by the film’s composer, Danny Elfman). A working copy of the film has surfaced with some added/alternative scenes. This version of the film is about 2 minutes shorter than the theatrical release, has some additional scenes and is missing others, is in black and white, and has a time code at the bottom. This version has 4 main differences: Alternate Scene: There is a different scene where Adam tries to leave the house after he and his wife have died.

Instead of a desert, he sees an empty darkness filled with moving gears. Additional Scenes: There is an additional scene where Lydia develops photos she took of Adam and Barbra. Then, after her mother yells at her and blames her for making holes in the sheets, Lydia runs upstairs and tries to convince her father that the photos are real. There’s more in the scene where the adults are looking for ghosts in the attic, where we see a desert monster trying to eat Adam and Barbra while they’re hanging from the attic window. Lastly, there is an extra 2 minute scene at the end where we see Lydia riding her bike home from school and her parents talking to Jane on the phone telling her they don’t want to sell the house. Lydia’s dance scene is shorter in this version and there is no scene with Bub in the waiting room. The film ends with a final shot of the exterior of the house. Day-OTraditional, lyrics by William A.
Davis looks and acts like
Attaway and Irving Burgie [Incorrectly credited as written by William A. Attaway and Irving Burgie (as Lord Burgess)] Performed by Harry Belafonte Courtesy of RCA Records. This movie has always been: 1 – very popular; 2 – very different; 3 – very entertaining; 4 – a very fast film of an hour and a half. A few of the characters here – primarily Michael Keaton’s unique and sometimes obnoxious main character, “Beetlejuice” – are always fascinating to watch. Along with it – and with the entire film – there is also a lot of humor and scary special effects. It was strange to see Alec Baldwin in such a modest role. In the 90s, he played very few such characters. well, Davis, who has almost always played nice, handsome people that the audience likes.
They are all good
It took me four viewings before I finally appreciated Catharine O’Hara’s comedic talent in this film. She is now my favorite and someone I find absolutely hilarious as the wife/mother who moves into the “haunted house” where Baldwin and Davis live. Keaton made a name for himself as an actor with this crazy Robin Williams-esque role, although he never followed up with anything as popular as this film. Winona Rider is cute as the teenage daughter, and we get other fun supporting roles from people as diverse as talk show host Dick Cavett, singer Robert Goulet, and actor Jeffrey Jones.
